House where Jean-Jacques Rousseau lived and the "dungeon" where he wrote include "The Social Contract", "The Emile", "Letter from Alembert," "The New Heloise".
La chataigneraie : beneath these trees, Rousseau came to meditate.
• House of gossips : Centre for studies and research on the eighteenth century.

AUVERS-SUR-OISE

Site dear to the Impressionists (Cézanne, Daubigny, Gauguin, Pissarro, Renoir ...) and Vincent Van Gogh lived the last two months of his life, during which he produced about 70 paintings.

The magnificent castle overlooking the Plain of the XVI of France is home to the National Museum of the Renaissance (closed Tuesdays).
